Why is this still a thing

Ladies and Gentlemen we currently live in the 21st century where anything is possible. But what I don't understand is why do people refuse to date someone who is less attractive than themselves. People waste time on finding the best looking person when a great potential partner is right in front of them. Maybe if people stop complaining of being single and just give someone outside of who you prefer a chance. This Century many things have changed. Will you guys help with making dating suitable for everyone with everyone?
